Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu SVD, Bishop of Ho diocese on 2nd January 2026 officially opened the Sacred Heart of Jesus Grotto at Fodome Helu. This grotto is a dream come true for some individuals. Worth mentioning are Rev Fr. Isaac Benuyena(The Cathedral Administrator), Mr Nicholas Gebe (Togbe Adze II), and Mr and Mrs Jerry Agala.
The rites of dedication was done and Mr. Jerry Agala officially handed over the newly constructed Sanctuary Shed, which he built as thanksgiving to God on his 65th birthday anniversary celebration over to the bishop, who in turn placed it under the spiritual guidance of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Peter Agage.
The ceremony was followed by a Holy Mass presided over by Most Rev Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD. Reflecting on the day's readings, he called on all Christians to imitate the humility of John the Baptist. He also added that the Heart of Jesus cannot be separated from Jesus himself. He said the heart is what makes a man and so when one is referred to as having a good heart, it in fact defines the whole personality person. He called on all present to imitate Christ, who opened his heart to welcome us always and urged us also to be Christ to other people. He said, for out of his heart flows humility, love and mercy.
Fr Isaac Benuyenah gave a brief history of the place, recalling some of the miracles that took place, and launched an appeal towards the purchase of garden seats for the grotto.
The Chief of Fodome Agbesia Togbe Adze II, expressed his appreciation to the pioneers of this massive dream come true and pledged that the traditional leadership of Fodome will continue to support the Church in all her activities.
Currently, the place is under the care of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Sisters from the United States of America.
The program was well attended by priests, religious and Catholic faithful, most especially devotees of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the diocese.
