The Ho Diocese has launched the Synod on synodality, a two-year consultative process aimed at the “Church reflecting on a theme that is decisive for its life and mission.”

The process, which is on the theme, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission,” begins from October 2021 to October 2023, when it will be climaxed with the Synod of Bishops at the Vatican.

Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu SVD, Bishop of Ho who performed the launch during the 2021 Diocesan Priestly Ordination in Ho on Saturday, October 30, called for the support and cooperation of all faithful with the Diocesan Synod Committee for a successful process.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ho, on the 4th of January 2022, ordained two ‘Transitory’ Deacons. The two are Rev. Prosper Yao Agbosu from Immaculate Conception Parish, Kpando and Michael Wonders Tsekpokumah from St. Augustine Parish, Alavanyo. Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, Bishop of the Ho Diocese in a homily at the Bishop Holland Centre in Sokode Gborgame where this memorable event took place, called on the newly ordained deacons to be men of good reputation, filled with wisdom and the Holy Spirit just like the deacons in the Act of the Apostle chapter six.

Pope Francis, on January 23, 2022, during Mass at the St Peter’s Basilica to mark the Church’s celebration of the Sunday of the Word of God, conferred on two Ghanaian Women, Mrs. Ellen Bosso and Madam Cecilia Agyeman Anane, the ministries of Lector and Catechist respectively. Mrs. Ellen Bosso is a native of Peki in the Ho Diocese while Madam Cecilia Agyeman Anane hails from the Kumasi Archdiocese.

Mrs. Bosso was among the six women and two men to be conferred with the ministry of a lector while Madam Cecilia was among the three women and five men to be conferred with the ministry of Catechist. These two Ghanaian women were selected upon the recommendations of their respective Bishops through the Chaplain of the Ghanaian Catholic Community in Rome.
