ADDRESS OF GRATITUDE BY BISHOP EMMANUEL KOFI FIANU, SVD ON THE OCCASION OF HIS EPISCOPAL ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION AS THE SECOND BISHOP OF THE HO CATHOLIC DIOCESE.
HOMILY AT THE THANKSGIVING MASS ON 4TH OCTOBER 2015 (27th Sunday in Ordinary Time)
Brothers and sisters in Christ, on this 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time, both the First Reading and the Gospel invite us to reflect on the indissolubility of marriage.
We all know that this is one of the thorny issues in contemporary society. We are all witnesses to the high rate of divorce in our society today. As Christians, we uphold the dignity and sacredness of the union between man and woman. We defend the right of every child to a family that reflects the biblical teachings that we heard today in the First Reading and the Gospel.
Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD, Bishop of Ho, has commissioned a six- Unit Classroom Block for the St. Joseph R.C Primary School at Avatime Biakpa with a call on stakeholders to continue resourcing schools with teachers, teaching and learning materials.
The School built by the Ho Diocese has an office and store, staff common room, 90 dual desks, seven teachers’ tables, chairs, cupboards and white boards. The Diocese also presented a six-unit water closet toilet facility to the School authorities.
At a durbar attended by Chiefs and people of the Area and Stakeholders of Education, Bishop Fianu noted that the commissioning was not only blessing and dedicating the teachers and children to God but was also to physically hand over the School building to the Avatime Biakpa community, whose direct beneficiaries were the children, parents and the Chiefs.
A nine-member committee has been constituted by the bishop to oversee the holistic development of Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto at Kpando-Agbenoxoe.
The committee is made up of the following members;

The Bishop of Ho Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu SVD, has called for a change in the attitude of Ghanaians in eradicating poor sanitation practices and endemic corruption in the society.
According to him, no amount of punitive actions would solve the challenges of poor sanitation, environmental degradation and endemic corruption in the Ghanaian society except and unless citizens, particularly Christians decided to have a change of attitude.
Bishop Fianu who was speaking at the diocesan launch of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference project dubbed, ‘A Clean Environment in a Corruption-free Society’ on Wednesday 12th December 2018 at the St. Cecilia Parish in Ho, charged faithful to impact society with their faith through self-sacrifice, love and service.
